CARSON — Cruz Azul captured the 2026 Campeón de Campeones title Sunday night, defeating Toluca 3-1 at Dignity Health Sports Park.

José Paradela opened the scoring in the 31st minute, curling a left-footed finish into the bottom corner after being set up by Carlos Rodríguez. The Argentine midfielder struck again in the 61st minute, finishing another well-worked attacking move to record his first brace for La Máquina and put the match out of reach.

Toluca responded just before halftime when Alexis Vega buried a direct free kick in first-half stoppage time, leveling the score at 1-1 heading into the break. It was Vega's lone goal of the evening despite Toluca controlling much of the possession and generating several quality chances.

Carlos Rodríguez restored Cruz Azul's lead in the 55th minute, finishing off a sweeping team move after Paradela slipped a perfectly weighted pass through the Toluca defense. Rodríguez also recorded an assist on Paradela's opening goal, finishing with a goal and an assist in a Man of the Match performance.

Toluca outshot Cruz Azul 25-12 and held 56 percent of the possession, but Cruz Azul was far more clinical, placing seven of its 12 shots on target and converting three of them. Goalkeeper Andrés Gudiño and the Cruz Azul defense withstood late pressure to secure the victory as La Máquina lifted its latest piece of silverware.
