DALLAS — FC Dallas picked up a third-straight win, with a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Portland Timbers on Saturday night at Toyota Stadium, making it three straight victories for the home side.
Dallas started the game with good energy and eventually found the breakthrough just before halftime. Logan Farrington finished a well-worked move in the 45th minute to give Dallas a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
Portland came out stronger in the second half and put Dallas under plenty of pressure. The Timbers created several good chances, but FC Dallas goalkeeper Daniel stood tall and kept the visitors from finding an equalizer.
As the game entered its final minutes, Dallas continued to hold on to its advantage. The hosts then found some breathing room in the 87th minute. Petar Musa’s effort was saved, but he stayed with the play and eventually set up Joaquín Valiente, who calmly finished into the corner to make it 2-0.
Portland managed to pull one back in stoppage time through Ariel Lassiter, giving the visitors a late boost. The Timbers pushed forward looking for one more chance, but Dallas held firm and saw out the final minutes.
The 2-1 victory gave FC Dallas its third consecutive win and another important three points at home. Portland showed plenty of fight until the final whistle, but Dallas did enough to walk away with the result.
