LOS ANGELES — LAFC finally found a way to get back in the win column, beating the Seattle Sounders 1-0 after a late goal from Timothy Tillman gave the home side a much needed result.
The match was tight from the opening whistle, with both teams trying to find control but neither side really taking over early. LAFC created chances throughout the night, especially through Son Heung-Min and Denis Bouanga, but Seattle goalkeeper Andrew Thomas stayed sharp and kept the Sounders in the game. Thomas had to deal with multiple looks from distance and made a big stop late when Son nearly found the breakthrough.
Seattle also had their moments, and honestly, LAFC were lucky not to concede. Jordan Morris had one of the best chances of the match, but Thomas Hasal came up huge for LAFC. In the second half, Seattle nearly grabbed the lead when Morris redirected a chance off the crossbar, giving LAFC a major scare as the game entered the final stretch.
The difference finally came late in the match after Tyler Boyd came off the bench and made an instant impact. Boyd got free on the wing, turned the corner, and sent a dangerous ball across goal. Tillman made the right run and stretched to guide it on frame, scoring his first goal of the season and giving LAFC a 1-0 lead.
It was a huge moment for Tillman, who had not scored since April 2024, and it came at the perfect time for an LAFC team that badly needed a goal. After being shut out in their previous matches, this finish gave the home crowd something to celebrate and helped end LAFC’s three-match losing streak.
Seattle pushed late from a corner and almost found a way back, but LAFC held on through stoppage time. It was not the prettiest win, but it was the kind of result LAFC needed before the break. The attack still has questions, but the fight was there, and Tillman’s late winner could be an important confidence boost moving forward.
