ATLANTA — FC Cincinnati secured a 3-1 victory over Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Both teams created opportunities during a competitive first half, but neither side managed to find the back of the net before halftime. Cincinnati broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when Kevin Denkey finished off a well executed attacking play to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. Atlanta responded in the 69th minute through captain Miguel Almirón, who capitalized on a chance inside the box to level the score at 1-1 and bring the home crowd back into the match.
With the game tied late in the second half, Cincinnati found another breakthrough in the 84th minute as Tom Barlow finished a pass from Kyle Smith to put the visitors ahead 2-1. Atlanta pushed forward in search of another equalizer, but Cincinnati remained composed defensively throughout the half and took advantage of the open space. Denkey scored his second goal of the night in the seventh minute of stoppage time, securing a 3-1 victory for Cincinnati. Despite Atlanta’s efforts to compete at home, Cincinnati’s finishing and ability to capitalize on key moments proved decisive in earning all three points.
