LOS ANGELES —LAFC earned a strong 3-1 win over Austin FC at BMO Stadium on Wednesday night, delivering an amazing second-half performance in front of 22,180 fans. An uneventful first half left both teams knotted up at 0-0. LAFC consistently applied pressure on the Austin defense with 13 total shots on goal, with 3 of them saved by Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver. Austin maintained possession of the ball 56% of the time during the first half, but could not get their attack in order. The Austin defense repelled the attacking LAFC until the half ended, leaving both teams heading back to the locker rooms looking for something to get them the win.

LAFC broke through in the 52nd minute when Son Heung-min assisted Denis Bouanga for the first goal of the night. Austin FC then responded in the 66th minute, with Myrto Uzuni assisting Brandon Vazquez for an easy finish past Hugo Lloris. However, LAFC wasted no time as Bouanga collected his second goal, just one minute later, putting LAFC back ahead. LAFC continued to shine as they added to their lead in the 72nd minute. After Bouanga won a header near midfield, Jacob Shaffelburg then delivered a cross into the box, where Son finished to extend the lead to 3-1.

The attacking duo of Son and Bouanga combined for all three goals, with Bouanga finishing the night with two goals and an assist to gain the title “Man of the Match”. Son recorded a goal and two assists. LAFC also dominated the shot count, finishing with 28 shots on goal compared to Austin FC’s 14. This forced Stuver to make an impressive 10 saves. The win is crucial for LAFC as the club aims to bounce back from a four-game winless streak. This win further strengthens their position in the Western Conference playoff race. Despite the loss, Austin fans will be content to see Brandon Vazquez score for his third consecutive match. However, the away club struggled to contain LAFC's relentless attacks after halftime. LAFC's ability to apply consistent pressure proved to be the difference, turning what looked like a competitive match into a comfortable home win for fans.
