NASHVILLE — Vanderbilt Women’s hosted and dominated the Florida Gators in front of a record-breaking 1,880 fans Thursday night. The Commodores snatched their 13th win of the season with a 3-0 pull over Florida.
From the earliest minutes to the last, Vanderbilt had full control of the match. With two goals scored/retracted early in the first half, Courtney Jones found the net to put a point on the board for Vandy. From over 30 yards out, Jones sent a beautiful ball past the Florida keeper in the 37th minute. Less than a minute later, Sydney Watts made it two for the Dores. Moments after being subbed onto the pitch, Vicky Pugh solidified the third and final goal of the match in the 43rd just before the halftime call.
This marks Vandy’s third clean sheet and sixth win in a row. The girls will head to Tuscaloosa Oct. 18 to play top-10-ranked Alabama in an SEC match up at 6 p.m. CDT.
