NASHVILLE — Music City stays on top. Nashville continued to make history Saturday night against FC Cincinnati, 4-0. Supporters of all ages filled the stands for an evening celebrating Kids Night, the life of Tennessee icon, Dolly Parton - and of course, the Boys in Gold. NSC remain unbeaten in 15 of their last 16 MLS matches (12W-1L-3D). They move to set the record for best 22 match start in Major League Soccer history.
Sam Surridge opened it up in GEODIS Park, drilling a header into the net in the 43rd minute with a sequence from Christian Espinoza and Andy Najar. Just after the half time break, Hany Mukhtar added to the tally in the 54th.
Bryan Acosta and Ahmed Qasem sealed the deal for Nashville later in the second half. Subbing onto the field in the 87th minute, Acosta made his first touch of the match his third goal of the MLS season with an assist from Mukhtar on a free kick in the 90th minute of play. Qasem capped it off for NSC in the sixth minute of stoppage time. All-Star Keeper, Brian Schwake, put on a show with six unreal stops and recorded yet another shutout of his career.
With 52 points on the board and much to go, Nashville ventures on the road for three straight matches. NSC will begin their travel in New York where they face New York City FC at Yankee Stadium on Friday, September 4th.
