NASHVILLE — Inter Miami returned to Nashville Saturday night for a much anticipated battle of the East. GEODIS Park hosted a full house of 30,109 supporters to watch NSC take the three points and remain at the top of League standings. The Boys in Gold dubbed a 4-1 win, totaling 43 points on the table overall.
NSC’s All-Stars put on quite the show. Brian Schwake recorded four saves while Andy Najar, Hany Mukhtar, and Sam Surridge collected their points on goal - Mukhtar finding two at the net. Andy Najar drilled a header between the posts with an assist from Elias Saad early in the 17th minute. Brian Schwake tallied four saves, most notably rejecting a penalty from Lionel Messi in attempt to equalize in the 23rd. This was Messi’s third missed PK in a row coming off of the World Cup run, his first miss in MLS since September 2025. Miami’s Telasco Segovia evened the match in the final minutes of stoppage time just before the halftime whistle.
Nashville SC showed no signs of stopping there. Hany Mukhtar opened up the second half, scoring in the 49th minute followed by Sam Surridge with a thrilling finish between posts. Brian Schwake bagged an assist with a long ball up field to Mukhtar dropping just behind Miami’s keeper and an easy finish for Gold’s number 10.
Nashville becomes the only MLS team remaining unbeaten at home in the regular season. NSC will travel to face New York Redbulls on Wednesday, August 19 at 6:30pm CT and back at home Saturday the 22nd against Columbus Crew.
