NASHVILLE — Music City hosted their second Leagues Cup match of the season Sunday night at GEODIS park vs LIGA MX’s Atlético San Luis.  NSC came away with a 4-1 win, earning them a crucial three points in the tournament.

Christian Espinoza returned to the pitch for the first time since injury in late May, donning the captains band in his return. San Luis braced an early goal in the 18th minute before Espinoza responded with an assist from Elias Saad in the 36th. This marked Saad’s first goal contribution for NSC since his debut. It was all uphill from there for Nashville supporters as their star forward, Sam Surridge connected with the net in the 38th followed by a beautiful free kick between the posts from outside the box for Espinoza just before the half time break.

Nashville SC entered the second half with a comfortable 3-1 lead over San Luis. Famara Camara made his NSC debut as a substitute in the 71st minute Sunday night followed by Reed Baker-Whiting solidifying the win with his first career goal in gold in the late 87th minute of play.

Next up the Boys in Gold face LIGA MX’s CF Monterrey for another must win Phase One Leagues Cup match up on Wednesday, August 12 at 7pm CT.
