NASHVILLE — Nashville SC came up short in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinal, falling 1-0 to Tigres UANL at GEODIS Park after a weather-delayed start and a tightly contested match decided by a first-half finish.

Nashville SC hosted LIGA MX’s Tigres UANL in Leg One of the CONCACAF Champions Cup Semifinal on April 28th. Despite severe weather delaying start time, the match kicked off with high intensity as the rain fell over GEODIS Park. Club Tigres’ Ángel Correa scored in the 33rd minute to seal the win of leg one in the home and away series.

NSC found the net early in the sixth minute but Reed Baker-Whiting was ruled to have been offside, voiding Hany Mukhtar’s attempt to take the lead for Nashville. Brian Schwake recorded six saves for the boys in gold. Sam Surridge did not dress due to a back injury.

Tigres pulled off the win 1-0, handing NSC their second loss of the season. Nashville will continue their Champions Cup Semifinal journey for leg two in Mexico vs Tigres UANL at Estadio Universitario next Tuesday, May 5 at 8:30pm CT.
