CHICAGO — The Northwestern Men's soccer team battled No. 10 UCLA to a scoreless 0-0 draw on Monday night at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in Evanston, Ill.
The Wildcats came aggressive from the start of the match, creating several early scoring chances and putting pressure on the Bruins. Northwestern continued to push forward throughout the match, finishing with 16 shots compared to UCLA’s 7.
Despite plenty of opportunities on both sides, neither team could find the back of the net. UCLA came close to breaking the deadlock in the second half when Diego Castano’s shot clipped the post, but Northwestern’s defense held on to secure the draw. The Wildcats delivered a strong defensive performance against a ranked opponent, earning a valuable point in Big Ten conference play and showing they could compete with one of the conference’s best teams.
