SAN DIEGO — San Diego FC returned home Wednesday night looking to bounce back and keep its momentum at Snapdragon Stadium, but instead suffered another frustrating result, falling 3–2 to the San Jose Earthquakes. San Jose came out strong, scoring twice early and putting SDFC in a hole before San Diego could settle into the match.
Despite the early deficit, San Diego fought its way back and refused to let the game slip away. The home side continued to create chances and eventually found two goals of its own, including a penalty from Cédric Bakambu. SDFC had opportunities to complete the comeback, but San Jose managed to hold on and leave San Diego with all three points.
With the playoff race heating up, this was another tough night for San Diego FC. After dropping consecutive matches, SDFC will need to find consistency quickly as every point becomes more important. The fight was there, but once again, San Diego was left looking for answers after a match that felt like it was there for the taking.
