AMÉRICA VS. TOLUCA

Two Liga MX powerhouses met in California as Club América faced Toluca in the Campeón de Campeones Cup at Dignity Health Sports Park. América entered as the reigning 2024 Liga MX champions, while Toluca arrived fresh off their 2025 Clausura title, setting the stage for a high-stakes clash between two of Mexico’s top sides.

The stadium was a sea of yellow as Club América supporters packed the stands, creating a charged atmosphere that felt like a home match away from home. With the energy high and anticipation building, the stage was set for another memorable chapter in Mexican football on U.S. soil.

América wasted no time taking the lead, striking in under a minute with a perfectly placed ball from Brian Rodríguez to Alejandro Zendejas, whose low cross into the box found its way past the Toluca defense to open the scoring early.

Toluca quickly settled into the match and answered back in the 11th minute, when Franco Romero unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box to level the score and silence the América-heavy crowd.

From that point on, Toluca took full control of the match, dominating possession and dictating the tempo. Bruno Méndez gave Toluca the lead just before halftime with a powerful header off a well-placed corner kick from Alexis Vega. Paulinho later sealed the victory with a composed finish in the second half, wrapping up a 3-1 win and the Campeones de Campeones Cup in convincing fashion.
