CARSON — LA Galaxy controlled long stretches of the match but Minnesota United were more efficient in front of goal, earning a 2–1 road win at Dignity Health Sports Park.
The first half was fairly balanced, with LA seeing more of the ball and trying to build through midfield while Minnesota stayed organized and looked for moments to attack in transition. Despite the Galaxy’s possession advantage, neither team was able to find a breakthrough before halftime.
The match shifted early in the second half. Minnesota opened the scoring in the 51st minute when Anthony Markanich got behind the defense and finished a one-on-one chance to make it 1–0. The Galaxy responded quickly, and just a few minutes later Marco Reus equalized in the 57th minute after following up his own rebound inside the box to tie the match 1–1.
For a brief stretch after the equalizer, momentum leaned toward LA as they pushed forward looking for a second goal. However, Minnesota stayed patient and found another opportunity in the 68th minute when Kelvin Yeboah finished from close range after a cross into the box, restoring Minnesota’s lead at 2–1.
From that point on, LA Galaxy had more possession and tried to press for another equalizer, but Minnesota remained compact defensively and limited clear chances late in the match. The Galaxy controlled much of the ball but struggled to break down Minnesota’s defensive shape in the final minutes.
At the final whistle, Minnesota United came away with a 2–1 victory on the road. Overall, the match was a contrast in styles. LA Galaxy controlled possession and tempo for long periods, but Minnesota took their chances well and were more clinical in key moments.
