NASHVILLE — Glory Music City. Nashville SC puts on one of their best performances of the season, earning three points at home for a stellar comeback against Columbus Crew. NSC made history Saturday night in a 3-2 win, marking the best start in Major League Soccer with a record breaking 49 points.

Hany Mukhtar kicked it off for Nashville in the 27th minute with a left footed shot on goal assisted by Daniel Lovitz. NSC maintained their lead, taking it 1-0 to the halftime break but tables would soon turn for Columbus.

Columbus Crew commanded an early second half performance, scoring two goals in the first 25 minutes of play. Mohamed Farsi found himself one v one against All-Star Brian Schwake in the 58th minute. Just ten minutes later, Andre Gomes buried a free kick to take the lead for Columbus in the 68th.

In the words of Hany Mukhtar “We never give up.” Just when you thought the match may be over (1-2), Nashville proved they weren’t ready to back down. Reed Baker-Whiting snatched his first MLS career goal in added time to level the score. Two minutes later, Andy Najar hammers one to the bottom left corner to secure a phenomenal comeback for NSC in the 95th minute of play - one minute before the final whistle. Nashville made League history by becoming the first team to secure 49 points in a 21 match run.

The Boys in Gold continue on top, lunging themselves closer to clenching their first Supporters Shield title. Nashville SC take on Cincinnati FC at home on Saturday August 29, 7:30pm CT.
