NASHVILLE — Nashville SC continued its rise to the top of the MLS leaderboard Sunday night at GEODIS Park. The Music City boys took down LAFC 3-2, extending their unbeaten streak to seven matches. Hany Muhktar snatched his fifth career hat trick with NSC and marked his 101st career goal across all competitions.
Mukhtar kicked it off in the 13th minute with an assist from Warren Madrigal. First year, Madrigal extending his point streak to three matches, giving him the third most MLS goal contributions on the team (five goals, four assists) since his debut in February. Eight minutes later, Mukhtar finds the net again with a beautiful long-range free kick, clenching his 100th career goal for Nashville. LAFC responded quick just one minute later with David Martínez scoring in the 22nd minute. NSC up one at the half.
Hany Mukhtar electrified the crowd with an early second half free kick in the 59th minute. Los Angeles responded rather quickly once more with a corner kick from Son Heung-Min and touched in the bottom of the goal by Denis Bouanga in the 68th. Nashville held on to the lead despite several attempts on target from LAFC. Brian Schawke earned his MLS career high with seven saves.
Despite missing several key players due to injury (Andy Najar, Sam Surridge, Eddi Tagseth, Patrick Yazbek), NSC finds itself at the top of the MLS Supporters’ Shield standings and lead the Eastern Conference with 30 points. The Boys in Gold are at home again this Saturday, May 23 at 7:30pm to host New York City Football Club.
