SAN DIEGOSan Diego FC dropped a tough one at home, falling 2–1 to the Portland Timbers after conceding a stoppage-time winner at Snapdragon Stadium.

San Diego controlled much of the match, especially early, using their press and possession to keep Portland pinned back. Despite that, it was the Timbers who struck first, as Kevin Kelsy capitalized on a turnover and finished against the run of play.

San Diego responded well and found their equalizer before halftime. A handball in the box led to a penalty, and Anders Dreyer converted to make it 1–1, a goal that reflected the pressure the hosts had been building.

The second half followed a similar pattern. San Diego pushed forward and even had a go-ahead goal called back for offside, while Portland remained dangerous in transition and forced a few key saves.

Just as it looked like both sides would settle for a point, Portland found the winner late. A scramble in the box fell to Alex Bonilla, who finished in stoppage time to secure a 2–1 road win.

San Diego will feel they deserved more from the match, but a lack of finishing and a late defensive lapse proved costly.
